Simeon Walker is a pianist and composer from Leeds in the UK. A professional musician, he has been an active member of the UK music scene, performing with numerous bands, and as a session player. His debut solo EP Preface was released in 2016 on Swedish label 1631 Recordings to significant acclaim across the modern classical genre.
This success came off the back of inclusions in the 2016 and 2017 Official Piano Day Playlists, compiled by German luminary Nils Frahm. Walker is part of a burgeoning scene within the modern/contemporary/neo-classical world with the likes of Frahm, Olafur Arnalds, Max Richter and the Erased Tapes label leading the way in bringing a predominantly small, niche genre to the wider attention.
Walker’s debut full length album Mono was released on 24th November last year. Amongst numerous glowing reviews, the album was described as “tender and evocative…beautifully captivating” by online music blog Gold Flake Paint, and “gently brooding…resplendent” by The Big Issue. Walker will release a new single to coincide with Piano Day 2018, before embarking on his first tour of Europe, calling at Bratislava, Vienna, Frankfurt and Krakow amongst others.
